The new Team of Helpers was founded by sociologist Kennan Walay and MBA June Veda after our founders learned, in different ways, what it feels like to both organize help and struggle to access it. Through years of fundraising, partnership-building, and community project implementation, our founders saw how much people and businesses are willing to do when the path is clear. That experience also exposed systems where help can be difficult to reach until a manageable problem becomes the crisis someone was trying to prevent. ToH grew from a simple belief: communities want to show up for their people—we just need better ways to organize it.
